Ward Campout

We returned home this morning from the Ward Campout. We had a fun time, but it got a little wet during the night and this morning. It rained lightly off and on during the night, but we stayed cozy and warm in our tent. The kids slept well, which was a surprise... our little girls are so great... what good campers. Even Becca was a good camper! This morning the rain started to really poor down during breakfast, so we ate and ran! It felt so nice to shower when we got home. :) We enjoyed hanging out with our friends last night and this morning. What a fun ward we are in! Last night they gave everyone glow sticks and Emma liked hers so much that she slept with it... so we had a nice blue glow in our tent all night. Emma also really enjoyed eating marshmallows, which made her face all sticky... and then dirt was just sticking to her face... she looked like she had a mustache! We're also glad to know that our tent can withstand a little rain. Last night when it started to sprinkle I was nervous we were going to start getting damp, but we stayed nice and dry. Becca slept so well that she woke up very cheerful and "talking" more than I've ever heard her before.. she must have had some fun dreams. She said, "ba doo bphhh, da de boooo", which I interpreted as "You have such a pretty face in the morning mom!" What a little linguist she is! :)

Girlfriends!

So, I'm wanting to blog, but I don't really have a plan regarding what I will write about. Let's see... I have had a fun time the past couple of weeks. I feel like I've been getting to spend a lot of much needed time with my girlfriends lately. So fun! I think that now that I have little kiddies, I need this girlfriend time more than ever! It's so great to talk with each other about our day-to-day lives... since we're all stay-at-home mommies, it's so great to be able to share our experiences and ideas and just have fun away from our children when possible. :) To recap some of the activities that have gone on lately - a bunch of us girls went to see Hairspray at a late night showing; it was soooo fun and we had the theater to ourselves! Heather already blogged about our outing with a picture of us all being super happy during our late-night excursion. The next week we had another girls night at Amanda's home. She's so fun... and has such a great house for parties! :) She also already blogged about this with some really amusing pictures. I recently remembered that I took one picture of some of us beginning our pedicure session. I love my cute toes! Let's see... and then last night we had yet another girls get together at my place and planned our big Thanksgiving craft project which we'll be working on all together. It's going to be so fun to all sew and stitch in our pj's in the coming weeks. I'm rather looking forward to it.

Another outing which I would be sad to ignore was an awesome date that Ben and I were able to go on this past Saturday. I'm embarrased to admit that this was the first time we have ever left Becca for a date. We've been on a few dates since Becca was born, but they all included Becca as our little tag-along. Well, this time we left Becca and Emma with Ben's parents and we were so grateful to have an evening alone! Becca really gave grandma a lot of work while we were gone. She's turned into quite the little mommy's girl and just screams when anyone other than me holds her. Well, our plan to avoid this problem was to put her to sleep for the night before we left. We did that, but she unfortunately woke up a little while after we left. But Grandma Dangerfield was a real trooper and insisted that we let her deal with our crying and sad little Becca while we finished our date. I was so thankful! We went to Charleston's for dinner, Cold Stone for dessert, and then to see Bourne Ultimatum... which was a great movie! I love date night!

End of summer?

This post will be a little bit of catch-up because I have all these random pictures on my camera that I decided I'd like to blog about. Last week Emma did a bit of swimming. We had a hiatus from the swimming during the monsoon season... it just always seemed to be raining and not so nice for swimming. Anyway, the weather's been hot again lately and it's been nice to enjoy the end of summer. It seems however with the super hot temperatures lately that summer may never end. It's still reaching 105 to 110 during the days and I don't see an end in sight. We're in the middle of September now... isn't it supposed to be cooling down?! Must be all that global warming. ;) So, Emma surprised me when we were swimming at Taya's... she would jump into the pool to where I was and then swim to the side by herself, without her wings! She did such a good job kicking her feet and moving her arms, just like a real pro! :)

Ben's been keeping busy after spending long days at the hospital, working on little projects throughout the house. He finished our bookshelf, which we've been using for the past few years, but never put a coat of varnish on... now it looks great! Yeah Ben! He also installed a ceiling fan in Emma's room and replaced the glass shelves in a cabinet with wooden ones, which he stained and varnished. Today he plans on finishing painting Becca's crib. What a handy hubby! It's been nice having our little patio area in the backyard to do these types of projects on... we never used to have a good space to do this kind of stuff before. Hooray for houses! Boo for apartments! ;)

On a side note, we went to the zoo this past Friday again... I like this picture of Emma on the huge tractor!
