September Randoms

I did a lot of running in September - especially on the trails - it was hot!  So I tried to run early or late with a head lamp.  The race I was training for was a night run, so I did a few runs wearing my headlamp and getting accustomed to avoiding tripping over rocks in the dark... not always successfully!

Look!  You can see the new Phoenix temple out in the distance!  There is so much beauty in the desert - and the temple just adds to it!

In the heat, we try to stay cool... ice cream time!

Becca has been losing lots of tiny teeth!

We had some crazy rain in September.  The end of summer is monsoon season, and this was the most rain I had ever experienced!

One morning we woke up to pouring rain and serious flooding - these first couple of pics are from the news - but are very close to our house!

I took this pic on the way to school that morning!  A lot of schools were cancelled - flood day!  As opposed to snow day!  Our school wasn't cancelled but only about half of the kids came that day - I got creative and found other streets to get there - but I wish I would have just stayed home with the kids and had a fun play in the rain day!  On our way down the road to school, we ran into this- I turned around and found another route...

I discovered that I like some sushi!  Well, most I don't like- but I really LOVE las vegas rolls!  It's fried, hot, smothered in sauce and amazingly delicious!  Here's our pretty sushi from one of our date nights...

More keeping cool with snow cones!

I was impressed Jake devoured his gigantic shave ice... Emma is looking rather ill behind him... haha...

More trail running pics!  I just love the trails near our home - I only have to drive 2-5 minutes to get to these places - some can be walked to from our house.  I would have a hard time ever moving from this area because the open spaces and desert around us is so beautiful...

Play dates with friends are very popular around here.  Jake loves hanging out with his neighbor friend, London (who's also in his Kindergarten class and Primary class)

A pic for no reason, other than these kids are so cute...  I'm not sure where Emma is...

Saturdays are full of chores usually - I make lists for each kid and post them - we plan a fun outing for when everyone is done - but it takes a good 3 hours to finish everything...  I was writing our chore lists and these cute ladies wanted a pic...

Jake is best at being the garbage man - I love to assign him emptying all the small garbage cans around the house (there are 6 of them!).  Jake likes to push his dump truck around with a trash bag emptying garbage into his truck...

Outings with these kids are always an adventure - I cannot remember why Claire was in boy pajamas during our Trader Joes visit...

Emma took these silly pics of Becca staying entertained with her Trader Joes stickers...

Haircuts and donuts!

The haircut and donut place are right next door to each other, so it's tradition that whenever a kid gets a haircut, we go get donuts after...

Emma being a goof doing a back walk over...

I love to catch Becca singing... she gets so shy to sing in front of me - but does so well during tour group performance solos!  She's so funny.  I caught her practicing a part of her solo...

Outings with Claire Bear

With all the kids at school all day, Claire and I spend a lot of time together.  She's a fun sidekick- even at the dentist!  haha

This was her first dentist visit - she did a great job keeping her mouth wide open, even when the dentist didn't need her to...

Cutest little patient...

We met up with Ben at the botanical gardens during his lunch break.  We got lunch at the restaurant there and explored the pretty gardens...

Another time we went to get desert with Ben at Frost - our new favorite gelato place!

Preparedness Fair

This might be a little boring, but I decided this deserved it's own post!  Because it took so much work!  I was asked to do a booth at the Stake Emergency Preparedness Fair - I also did a speaking presentation with power point the night before!  I was really nervous, but it went well thankfully.  And I learned a lot through getting all this information organized.

My topic was on planning and putting together a 3 month food supply - as well as living with a grocery budget and couponing...

This ended up being a great experience for me!  Being prepared and planning for the future in your food supply for your family is so important!

Girls Weekend!

We had an amazing girls weekend at the beginning of September.  It's a special occasion to all get together!  Our husbands all went to medical school together - 1st year of medical school was about 10 years ago now!  Time flies!  It was so wonderful to see these great friends again... Taya and I live here in Arizona, Jodi - Idaho, Liora- Las Vegas, Heather- Arkansas, and Aubree was transitioning between cities and prepping to leave to India a couple weeks after this!

We met at Taya's dad's home/resort in Cave Creek and stayed there for the weekend- we did a lot of shopping, eating out, swimming, and catching up!

I'm so lucky to have met these beautiful girls!  They are all so talented, kind, and super fun!

Baby Shower Mutual Night

Two of our cute Young Women leaders- Stephanie and Emily- were due with babies soon, so for a combined mutual activity one week, we had a surprise baby shower for them!  It was a busy day for me getting things ready- Claire loved having a van full of balloons!

I had to get creative to make space for all our fun YW...

I didn't do any of the food - the other leaders brought food and activities - I was in charge of decoration and the space!  haha

My friend Rebecca!  She's our super fun and hard working YW President...

Love these two!  Jen and Ciara!  It's hard to tell, but Jen is a leader, not a YW...

We played the stereotypical baby shower games and it was so fun with all these great girls...

Stephanie knee deep in gifts...

Emily surrounded by presents!  :)

I love these Young Women leaders and girls so much!
