Playing in the Heat

It's so horribly hot right now.  As I type this, it's 110 degrees outside, and still climbing.  Gross.  I always wish I were in Utah during the summer time, but we've been making the best of the hot weather, and enjoying playing despite it.  :)  We decided to make an early exit from the house one morning to ride bikes... with the hope that we could beat the heat a little.  I was impressed that the kids stayed so cheerful riding their bikes and playing on the playground while sweating....

Claire loves cherries... except for the pits :)

After the park we ran several errands - after shopping, we made a stop for Hawaiian shaved ice.  It was absolutely delicious!

Later Emma's friend, Sarah, came to play - we made lava lamps.  It was an understatement to say they were a hit.  :)

We ended our busy fun day with a trip to the water park...  It's our new home away from home.  :)

Keeping Busy...

The kids have been staying busy with simple summer fun (which in Arizona means water activities and indoor stuff).

The kids playing Post Office...

Sharing a big snow cone at the water park...

Ice cream with toppings!...

A visit to the splash park...

Claire likes snacks...

Phoenix Art Museum with Grandma and Cousin Adam...

More ice cream...  did I mention that Claire likes eating?...

Splash park at the Scottsdale Quarter...

Oh, and MORE ice cream....

We had a movie night with treats and decided to make Kool-aid popcorn.  Guess what - it was really gross and nobody ate more than one bite... I guess you can't win them all...

So, instead we ate regular popcorn and regular koolaid. :)

Mid-Summer Night Eve... we recited poems and the kids sang and put on the cutest play of "The Loud Mouth Frog" - a classic story in the Dangerfield family :)

We floated a cake, which also got to be Lacy's birthday cake.  After we ate cake, the kids jumped in the tiny pool with their clothes on :)

During Ben's last couple weeks at the Mayo Clinic, he kept bringing home goodies from the cafeteria -since he was trying to use up the last of his food money funds.  Claire loved her chocolate muffin from daddy...

Game Night- Twister!!

On Ben's last day of residency, he came home to a little sign that the kids and I put together.  He really is Super Daddy (and Super Husband to me!).  We couldn't be more proud of him officially completing residency.  He started work at the Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix yesterday and came home happy after a successful first day.  He's amazing!
