After the start of the New Year, we met up with Ben's family for Zoo Lights! We hadn't been in a few years, so it was exciting to go - I remember the last time we went I was cold, even in my coat and mittens - this time we were all only wearing light jackets, and mitten-less, and it felt great - definitely un-seasonably warm even for Phoenix at this time of year. Before heading into the zoo, we did a little pizza 'tailgating'. :)

Little Chefs and Zoo Lights
During the kids holiday break, we did a little baking with Emma's baking kit from Christmas. :) Emma did all of the steps herself (with Becca as her baking assistant)... I just kept her on track and taught her new cooking skills and terms as she reached new steps in her recipe (like, when you add flour to your mixture, start with it on low speed and then turn it up as it gets more mixed in - or you'll have flour everywhere!). We had a fun time making cinnamon sugar cookies -

Just before the cookies were put in the oven

ReplyDeleteBaking is fun. It was smart to get REAL equipment for Emma.
ReplyDeleteGood job Emma (and helpers).
Phoenix Zoo has been a great place for your family. It will be a part of fond Childhood memories.
We thought a snow storm was coming last night, but it never came. This has been a pretty dry winter so far. It's the middle of January and we can still see all of our lawn. It's so weird.
Your dad and I had the most fun walk on Monday evening. We went to Dimple Dell and walked the horse trail. The moon was bright and the sky was clear. Even with a cold wind blowing (except down in the gulch)it was great. I've come a long way for once being a Southern California girl.
A beach person CAN eventually become a mountain person.
