Patriotic Fun

We made flags to decorate our boring fridge for Fourth of July week...

The kids get SO excited when I tell them I'll be letting them paint :)

The weather on the Fourth of July was SO weird... the high that day ended up being in the upper 70's!!  It was like a miracle... a wonderful fourth of july present.  We went to the water park that morning.  We were so cold and it was raining on us much of the time.  But it was so fun!  The lines were short, and no one got sunburned.  :)  After the water park, all of Ben's family came to our house for lunch and a movie.  Lacy made the most delicious flag cake.  It got devoured very quickly.  Poor Ben Lee didn't even get any cake, because he was too busy napping.   :)

Then we all hopped in our cars and some of our group stopped for ice cream at Sweet Republic in Scottsdale.  Wow!  We all got the Toffee Banofi sundae and I died and went to heaven.  Peter and Lacy recommended this place to us - I love them forever for it.  My favorite food man, Alton Brown, also believes it's the best ice cream he's ever eaten.
We ended our day with baseball and fireworks at Grandma's.  Gilbert seems to be the only city in the valley that allows fireworks in your driveway.  It's definitely fun to not have to hang around crowds of people and fight traffic for a firework show....

We were also entertained by a patriotic program and an encore performance of "The Loud Mouth Frog".  Enjoy...

  1. I like the old school chairs around the table. You guys look like a regular little home school there.
I was impressed with how well the kids sang that song with all the states. That was a lot to remember.
It might also be good for the kids to learn about the Constitution and Bill Of Rights!
I've always liked the Big Mouth Frog story. I had a girlfriend (Eldie) that took 'Youth Leadership" in college. She acquired and shared with us lots of great music and fun stories (Frog being one).
Almost your birthday!! Have a good one.
