December is always busy, but definitely sooo fun! There were a lot of memorable moments - such as Emma's first piano recital! She did so well. She practiced her song (Sleigh Ride) for a long time before hand - she was a little nervous during the recital, but I know she knew that song really well. She's come a long way in her piano skills in a short amount of time. So proud of her! She's lucky to have an awesome teacher!! (And my bestest friend!!)
Ben continued growing his beard... him and Peter were beard brothers...
There was a really random tree stump that was dumped on the side of the road leading to our neighborhood - it had been there for several months and obviously wasn't going anywhere... so someone must have decided to decorate it for Christmas since it was now a seemingly permanent fixture on the road side. Over the course of the month, lots of others contributed decorations - we added the little silver tree :) It was such a cheerful and hilarious sight every time we'd drive into the neighborhood - it just kept getting more and more festive!
The Young Women visited the Mesa Temple lights for mutual one week. These girls are so wonderful!
Our very own Christmas elf visited us this year - His name is Larry! The kids were creeped out by him at first... hahaha...
We occasionally enjoy getting a produce basket from a community co-op - We definitely eat a large variety of fruits and vegetables for that week...
I liked the variety of carrots!
We took the kids to Peter Piper Pizza one Saturday for a fun lunch out - the kids love this place...
Emma got a sewing kit for Christmas, so I started teaching her some sewing lessons - we just covered the basics... since that's all I know...
For New Years Eve we went to dinner and to see The Hobbit with Ben's family - Emily set us up with sitter at her house - so it was a fun adult night out to ring in the new year. My date for the evening was looking particularly manly this year...
Jake enjoyed a few days with his power wheels car he got for Christmas... Santa didn't do the best shopping job on this one - apparently Black Friday sales aren't always the best way to go, as it's battery just stopped charging... :(
We recently discovered a new favorite lunch - just a plate full of fruit, crackers, and cheese - they eat it all up and just love it - it's nice to find a popular kids lunch that isn't mac n cheese or chicken nuggets :)

Emma!! You did wonderful on the piano! I had no idea that you had gotten so good!
ReplyDeleteAlso, you were doing well with that sewing lesson.
You are a sharp girl and you are surrounded by caring teachers. You have a chance to do many great things!
Sue, I am impressed with all the opportunities you and Ben are giving your children to learn.
On another topic: I liked that produce basket. That's a neat idea.
Take the Power Wheel to the shop!
