Things that make a mommy happy

Emma gave her very first Primary talk on Sunday and I'm so proud of her! She's getting smarter and more clever every day. :) She practiced her talk several times this past week and she was able to read the whole thing by herself. We practiced for daddy (and the camera) just before leaving for church that morning.

The concept of families being together forever must really be sinking in for her... yesterday her daddy asked her what one of her favorite things is... Emma replied, "Snacks!" She then said, "but do you want to know what my SUPER DUPER favorite thing is?!... that our family will be together forever!" Happy to know that having an eternal family inches out snacks in the favorite things scale. :) Emma's so great.

Jake is also getting smarter and more clever every day. :) He started rolling over at about 3 1/2 months and now is just rolling all the time. He's recently discovered he can get to just about anything on the floor by rolling to get it. He's even decided he prefers sleeping on his side or tummy. I always put him to bed on his back, but whenever I check on him later he's usually on his belly. He's also decided he doesn't want his paci anymore! With my girls I had to get rid of them through little ceremonies of throwing them all away and waving bye-bye when they are almost nursery age... but Jake is his own man and has rid himself of them on his own. He just refuses to suck on them - This makes me very happy! I've always had a love/hate relationship with pacifiers and this way it just forces me not to worry about them anymore. Also, Jake is officially sleeping through the night!! No more night feedings... hallelujah! He's now sleeping for a full 12 hours in a row without crying for mommy. This makes me extremely joyful! :) A rested mommy = a happy family.

Oh, and I shouldn't leave Becca out! Hmmm... let's see... she makes me happy because she shares my love for sweets (and is just an all around sweet little girl).

mmmm... am I the only one who thinks that cookie dough tastes even better than the actual cookie?!

  1. Oh, lucky! Jake sleeps through the night! I hope mine turns out to be a good sleeper like that!

And you are definitely not the only one who likes cookie dough more than the cookie.

  4. It's hard to believe that Emma is only four. She's such a great reader! She's clearly a bright girl but I can tell that you have worked hard with her to bring her to this level.
She also looked very pretty in her Sunday dress.
Jacob is growing up so fast. It's really nice that he doesn't want a pacifier (one less struggle for you).
Becca sure looks like she's enjoying the cookie dough. I prefer the actual cookie, but the dough is fun to eat too.

  9. Yay, yay for sleep! My mom always said, "it's all bad for you eat those cookies anyway you like 'em." I think raw is way better too, Becca.
