Ben had a couple random vacation days that he took this week, so on Friday we went to beautiful Sedona for a day trip (it's about a 1 1/2 hour drive north of us). It was made extra fun by having Emily, Adam, Peter and Lacy with us. We played at Slide Rock and had such a great time. The weather was hot, so we were anxious to get cooled off in the water... of course it was icy cold the first time we hopped in, but soon it started to feel more refreshing! :)

For those who haven't been to Slide Rock before, it's basically a natural water slide! It's really fun and really cold... but when it's 100 degrees outside, it almost feels good :)

Snack Time!
Waiting in line to jump! I thought I was being really daring and fun to do this little 10 foot jump into the water... but then Peter and Ben topped us all by jumping off a 30+ foot cliff later on!
Ben's SPLASH
My not so graceful jump in... nose plugged and all

Becca seemed so proud of herself to have found this little becca-sized version of the big water slide that everyone else was doing... she did this over and over again

So, here's Peter making the big jump on the HUGE cliff! After Peter did it, Ben decided that he wanted to (not to be outdone by his younger brother!)... it seriously freaked me out so bad that I couldn't get myself to even take a picture of Ben jumping
Lacy contemplating jumping...I was impressed that Lacy even considered doing it
Eating our yummy picnic lunch in the park after we were done playing in the water
After all was said and done, we stopped for some ice cream in Sedona on the way out of town... I took this pic just beforehand. It was great little trip!
That place looks great! I wish it was closer so that I could go.
ReplyDeleteHOMESICK...
ReplyDeleteThat looks REALLY FUN!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the 10 foot jump!
Ben and Peter were very daring to do the big jump. Personally, I think 10 feet is plenty.
Sedona is a really beautiful place. I was impressed with the area when we drove through there on our way to and from Utah.
I'm glad that you guys had a fun day trip. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Today was just starting to feel a little dull and your blog picked me up.
I love slide rock! I am so impressed that you jumped (even if it wasn't the big one). Ben's jump is crazy! I don't think I would want to watch either.
ReplyDeleteIt would that the rock surface would be like sand paper when sliding. How does it work?
ReplyDeleteDad- the rocks that you slide down are VERY slippery... in fact, it was tricky to walk out to the start of the slides without slipping and falling over. I think it's just the water that has run across the rocks for so long makes it really smooth and slick. :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like such a fun place! Glad you got to go as family and have such a fun time. I would have been a wimp, I couldn't have even done the 10 foot jump, so I'm impressed. Wish we'd have known about that place, would have loved to have gone.
ReplyDeleteHEY! We're planning a trip this week...possibly even as soon as tomorrow...any tips??
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me. We need to get up there this summer. Was it crowded?
ReplyDeletetessa- it wasn't really that crowded, but we went on a friday - I'm sure it's more packed on saturdays :) You should definitely go!
ReplyDeleteHow Fun!! We LOVED slide rock when we were in AZ! I really miss it there!! Heber also liked to jump off that big cliff.....definitely NOT my thing! :) Can't wait to hopefully see you guys next year!
