Swim!

Emma did fantastic on swim team this summer!  This was her first time participating in something like this, and I was so impressed with her attitude and hard work.  She got lots of great exercise!  Three practices each week and 4 swim meets over the 6 week period of swim team.  I'm so proud of her!

Lining up for the next event...

Emma showing off some of her ribbons...

During her last swim meet of the summer, she walked away with a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbon!  She was super excited.  It comes with a fun story too :)  The kids get to pick the events they want to race in ahead of time.  She quickly decided she wanted to do the LONG races - 100 yard Freestyle, 100 yard Backstroke, and 50 yard Breaststroke.  Well, they called for the kids for the first 100 yard event and Emma was the ONLY one.  hahaha.  She looked around waiting to see if anyone else was going to race against her, and no one did - she must be really intimidating.  ;)  She proudly hopped in the pool and did her 100 yards with lovely form, while everyone there at the meet cheered her on as she swam 4 lengths across the pool.  She was rewarded with a 1st place ribbon!  It was really fun!

We spent a lot of time carpooling girls to swim team in the early morning.  Swim caps are really attractive...

Here's a video of Emma doing her first race of the summer. She's in the very last lane in the back and she ended up getting 4th. Yay Emma!

Becca and Jake had lots of swim lessons this summer - Jake did a total of 4 weeks of lessons, and Becca had 6 weeks.  I was so proud of both of them because they made awesome progress!  Especially Becca - she couldn't swim at all at the beginning of the summer, and now she can!!  She can swim across the whole pool unassisted.  Yay!

Popsicles at the last day of swim lessons with Miss Paige :)

I really like the story about her swimming a race with no competitors. Funny!
