Yellowstone

We left early in the morning from our hotel in Jackson Hole and hit the road- in one day we drove through Yellowstone and stopped several times through there to explore, then after lunch we continued on and drove the rest of the way to Glacier - we arrived in Glacier around 7pm, which was great!  We made awesome time and the kids were great travelers that day.  It was a full day of travel and sightseeing, with some amazing scenery!!

On our way into Yellowstone, we first drove through the Grand Teton National Forest - We hopped out of the car for a short break - it was around 8am, and when we stepped outside, it was COLD, but we are wussy...  But it was gorgeous!

Yellowstone...

We spent a couple of hours in the Old Faithful area.  We waited and wandered for close to an hour until the geyser finally erupted!  :)

This lighting in this video is dark- I have no idea why...

Afterwards we walked towards the boardwalk to see the hot springs, first walking through a wooded area next to a creek...  coming from Phoenix, surroundings like this are so refreshing!!

We walked around the boardwalk and were in awe of the variety of colors!!  Seeing these hot springs in the ground all around us is like being on another planet!  It's amazing and kind of creepy... Ben and I were having to be a little neurotic of keeping the kids close and holding hands - we didn't want them falling off the boardwalk (with no sides!!) and falling through the earth to be boiled.  Eeek!

We even ran into a Google Maps guy!!  Cool!!

Amazing!!  The colors and depth of the water seemed unreal...

We ended our short Yellowstone morning with lunch and a treat at the General Store...

Then back on the road for 7 more hours to Glacier!

  1. Pretty country. An earthquake made Old Faithful a little less faithful, but at least it still does it's thing.
Taking small kids on those boardwalks would have made me crazy. You're braver than I am.
